One of the most intriguing issues in world politics in recent times has undoubtedly been the fluctuating relations between the United States of America (U.S. in short) and the People's Republic of China (China in short). Aside from the economic dimension of the relations, which has been effective until the recent past and is essentially based on symbiotic principles, relations have become much more confrontational in recent years, the perception of competition rather than cooperation has strengthened, and according to many prominent experts and thinkers, Washington has begun to perceive Beijing as the greatest threat to its power from the geopolitical perspective for the 21 st century. In this context, this chapter will first assess the reality of the so-called "Chinese rise" based on material foundations and various data. Secondly, the chapter will summarize the views of important statesmen, academics, and experts in the Western world, whose opinions on this issue are highly valued in the Western world, in an effort to understand how the Chinese rise is approached in the U.S. in particular and the Western world in general.
